Miniature Garden
"Büyük Mutluluklar, küçük şeylerle gelir."
It's like lifelong gardening, but in a much smaller size!: Terrarium & Minyaturbahce
What is Terrarium & Miniature Garden?
Miniaturbahce, or terrarium, consists of dwarf and miniature, slow-growing plants. Two terms describe the plant's growth rate (not its mature size). "Dwarf" means the plant grows between 1 and 6 inches per year. "Miniature" means the plant is growing less than 1 inch per year.
To create a realistic, living garden look, plants are combined in a container with mini accessories that can last up to 6 years with minimal maintenance.
Miniature gardens are made using dwarf trees and shrubs. Miniature garden plants are slow-growing plants with small leaves and should be compatible with the ground prepared by taking into account their light and water requirements.
To give a realistic appearance and to create a sustainable and living system, the accessories and other elements to be used should be reduced and placed to scale, with scales appropriate to their actual dimensions.

Miniature Garden History

The history of miniature gardening includes bonsai—the art of growing a miniature tree or shrub. With bonsai, the roots and branches of the plant are selected and pruned to fit into a shallow container. Thus the plant is tricked into growing small.
Bonsai began in China during the Tang Dynasty (618 to 917 AD). According to Chinese legends, an emperor in the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) had a miniature of him built so that he could watch his empire from the window of his palace. While he turned his entire garden into mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes and trees, he claimed that this art belonged to him. No one was allowed to build a miniature garden as it would be considered a threat to the empire and could be punished by death.
Railroad gardening has been around since the full-length railroads in 1860. Model trains were made to impress the public and sell real ones. It was operated outside on railways and gardens.
With today's abundance of new miniature, dwarf trees and shrubs, miniature gardening has become much easier and more accessible. 2 green thumbs? has spent the past 10 years showing what works so garden enthusiasts don't have to bother. Plus, DIY kits have made it so much more fun, quick and easy!
Where can it be done?
It can be done anywhere if the right plants are chosen.
Plants evolve under certain conditions and need the continuation of special conditions in the living environment. Plants, like us humans, can survive if some of their special needs are met.
The plants' requirements for direct sun, shade, indirect light, moist or dry soil, indoor and outdoor temperature, etc. must be met.
What are the differences between indoor and outdoor plants?
Indoor plants require year-round “tropical” temperatures of approximately 15oC. Plant species that can remain alive and green in winter conditions and in the outdoor environment remain in limited numbers.

How Long Do Living Miniature Gardens Live?

Miniature gardens can be kept alive for many years. There are miniature gardens that last for 10 years or more. The crowded root structure formed in the container may not cause a problem for some plants, but some plants may need to be replanted.
However, there is no time limit for inanimate miniature gardens. With proper use, it can be used for a very long time.
Herbs such as rosemary that imitate or resemble miniature plants can be used seasonally. Lavender plant is also one of the plant species that can be used for this purpose.
